Sewer and foul water drainage

We repair and replace failed sewer and foul water drainage across Hawke's Bay, for homes and commercial buildings. This is the infrastructure work rather than a one-off blockage, so it's usually the answer when a drain keeps failing.

What this covers

Sewer and foul water drainage is the infrastructure rather than a one-off blockage. Failed or collapsed pipework, infiltration where stormwater is getting into the foul system, grease trap installation and maintenance, connections, and the compliance work that goes with it.

How you know it is the infrastructure

A one-off blockage clears and stays clear. An infrastructure problem comes back, and usually on a pattern. Every few months. Always the same fixture. Always after heavy rain. That pattern is the useful piece of information, so it is worth telling us when you ring.

Domestic and commercial

On houses this is usually old pipework that has broken up, or roots, or a section that has dropped. On commercial buildings it is more often grease, capacity, or a system that was fine for the old tenancy and is not for the new one. A building that was an office and is now a cafe has a very different load on the same pipes.

Grease traps

If you run a kitchen, the grease trap is the thing that keeps you out of trouble with the council and out of trouble with the drain. They need installing to the right size for the kitchen and they need servicing on a schedule. An undersized trap that is emptied religiously still does not work.

We install them, we maintain them, and we will tell you honestly if the one you have is too small for what you are now doing.

Infiltration

Stormwater getting into the foul system overloads it and it overloads the network downstream. It shows up as a drain that only misbehaves when it rains. Often it is a cracked pipe below the water table, sometimes it is a downpipe connected where it should not be. The camera finds which.

Finding the fault first

We camera the line before quoting anything substantial. It tells us where the fault is, how far down, and how long a section actually needs replacing. That is the difference between a targeted dig and an expensive guess.

Minimising the disruption

On a commercial site we will talk through timing before we start. Most of this work can be staged or done outside trading hours, and knowing where the dig goes before it starts is what makes that possible.

Certification

Drainage work is signed off by a Certifying Drainlayer, which Russ is. That paperwork matters when the property changes hands, and on a commercial building it matters to your compliance file.

What it costs

Sewer and foul water drainage is quoted. We would normally camera the line first so the quote is based on what is actually there rather than an assumption, and the inspection cost is discussed before we come out.

Our initial call to site for minor plumbing maintenance is $224.25 including GST, then $120.75 an hour in half-hour blocks. Specialist equipment and services are charged or quoted separately depending on the job.

Where we work

We work across Napier, Hastings, Havelock North and the surrounding areas. That takes in Taradale, Ahuriri, Bay View, Flaxmere, Clive, Haumoana and out as far as Eskdale, Puketapu, Maraekakaho and Te Awanga. If you're not sure whether you're in range, ring and ask.
