What we do
People usually ring because something needs fixing, improving or building. Maintenance, renovations, new work, drainage problems, commercial jobs, rural systems. Our job is to work out the right practical solution for what's actually in front of you, and then do it properly.
Residential
Maintenance and repairs, renovations and new work, hot water, drainage and water filtration for homes across Hawke's Bay.
Commercial
Planned maintenance, reactive repairs and full plumbing installs on new commercial builds. Grease and interceptor traps, compliance remedial work, and Form 12A backflow certification for your Building Warrant of Fitness.
Rural
Rural wastewater and septic systems, including Advanced Enviro-Septic. Drainage fields, soakage trenches, repairs and maintenance. Water tanks, bore pumps, catchment and treatment for lifestyle blocks and unsewered properties. This is work we're actively growing.
Specialist
CCTV drain inspections and fault locating on sewer and stormwater, so you find out what's actually wrong before anyone starts digging. Pre-purchase plumbing inspections including Dux Qest, insurance claim investigations, and backflow inspection, testing and certification.

Russ is a Certifying Plumber and Certifying Drainlayer, first registered as a Drainlayer in 1992, and has run Bay Plumbing Services since 2002. That's over 30 years in the trade. We've been Master Plumbers members for more than 10 years, which means residential work is covered by the Master Plumbers Guarantee.

How a job usually runs

Ring us
Tell us what the job is and roughly where you are. We'll tell you honestly when we can get to you.

We inspect the job
Normal maintenance and service work goes ahead at the published rate. Larger jobs and projects get a site assessment and a quote first.

Price before we start
For renovations, new builds and commercial work we're happy to price and quote straight from the plans. Send them through and we'll come back to you.

Job done, paperwork sorted
Including any compliance certificates the council needs, like a Form 12A for backflow.
What it costs
Our initial Service Call to site for minor plumbing maintenance is $224.25 including GST. That covers the first hour, local travel and minor sundries. After the first hour it's $120.75 an hour, charged in half-hour blocks. Any materials used are additional.
Where we work
I work across Napier, Hastings, Havelock North and the surrounding areas. That takes in Taradale, Ahuriri, Bay View, Flaxmere, Clive, Haumoana and out as far as Eskdale, Puketapu, Maraekakaho and Te Awanga. If you're not sure whether you're in range, ring and ask.
Selected projects
A couple of jobs worth showing. The Masonic Hotel in Rawene, where Russ did all the plumbing and drainage through a full renovation over an eight year relationship with the owners. And the Moturoa Island bach for Paul Francis Architects, an island build with everything that comes with working somewhere you can only reach by boat.
